Beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamyon Tuesday lost the trust vote on the floor of the state Assembly by six votesafter a four-day debate on the confidence motion he had moved on 18 July."ChiefMinister H.D.Kumaraswamy has lost the floor test, as 99 votes were in favour ofthe confidence motion and 105 against it," Assembly Speaker K.R. RameshKumar told the members of the House after the floor test.Of the 225-memberKarnataka Assembly, 20 were not present in the House for the floor test.
The JD(S)-Congress coalition government lasted 14 months. TheBJP Karnataka Twitter handle tweeted about the result that, "It’s thevictory of people of Karnataka. It’s the end of an era of corrupt & unholyalliance. We promise a stable & able governance to the people of Karnataka.Together we will make Karnataka prosperous again."
